Maasais are indigenous ethnic group found in Northern Tanzania and Southern Kenya. They are semi nomadic and their livelihood heavily depends on their livestock. Cows, sheep and goats are the primary source of income together with other livestock products such as cow hides and milk. A typical Maasai family will have between 75 to 1,000 cows.

Maasai Cows are grazed freely over the beautiful and endless plains. The grass grows organically with normal seasonal rainfalls.

At home, the cows are milked by the Maasai women very early in the morning and in the evening after a long day of grazing. The women will usually serve the milk to the family as part of the Maasai diet.

Traditionally, women own only milk and cow hides. Maasai women have the sole decision on how the milk is shared with the family
